STRATFORD A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE'S REPORT. The following is the report submitted to the meeting of the- above Society on Friday last:— Since June one hundred new members have been added to the list, which must be considered most satisfactory under the circumstances. More new members could be obtained if members of the general committee would introduce the secretary to those who have not already joined, when he attends clearing sales, and generally take a live interest in the affairs of the Association. Donations.—(The sub-committee set up in this department of show work have been most successful, having canvassed the town and district, with the splendid result that the sum of £248 5s has been promised. We feel that, taking into consideration the liberal manner wliich the fa'rmers have manifested in the special prize list this year, if the general committee would make a special effort among their farmer friends there would be no difficulty in making the donation list up to a grand total of £3OO. The schedule has been revised and altered in places, and several new classes have been added, wliich should prove niore attractive to exhibitors. The sum of £l7 10s has been collected for advertising in the schedule, which has reduced the printing in the first instance, leaving only about £23 for the Association to find. The schedule has now been posted to exhibitors. The various sub-committees have worked well, and the judges and stewards have 'been appointed. A resolution passed at the conference of A. & P. Associations regarding luncheon tickets, fodder, and gate charges, has been signed by your president, also by the presidents of the Tnranaki and Egmont Association, and is now inserted in the schedule.
The Farm Committee begs to report that the grounds are in splendid condition. The hay paddocks have been closed for some time and a good supply of green feed is assured during show days. Your president, secretary and Mr, E. .Tackson purpose visiting the Palmerston North and VPanganui shows, with a view to getting entries, as much yet remains to be done. Your executive would be glad if members who can will assise at the show grounds a few days prior to and during the show. The General Committee have decided not to issue members' tickets till the subscription is paid for the current year, and would urge those who are in arrears to pay as soon as possible. Arrangements will be made for a box office outside, so that members can pay their subscriptions and obtain their tickets, thereby saving a considerable amount of inconvenience. An effort is being made to induce the Government to establish a model dairy farm in Stratford, and the Minister lor Agriculture has berl invited to visit this district, with that object in view. The prospect of the Stratford Show being a record one this year is most encouraging, and it only remains for the farmers to exhibit as largely as possible and thus help to make this the largest dairy show in the province.
