A COURT MARTIAL.
MAORI DESERTERS TO BE TRIED. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. It is not often that a court-martial takes place m Auckland, but on Tuesday next, a military tribunal will sit at Narrow Neck. Two Maori soldiers, members of the Second Reinforcements, will be charged with desertion. One is alleged to have deserted while on leave, and the other is stated to have escaped from his ship. The proceedings will be of more than ordinary interest, since an important witness will be a Maori occupying a high position who is alleged to have made utterances calculated to actuate the men in their desertion.
