IN THE AIR.

GUNPLANES AT WORK. TRAINS AND RAILWAY STATIONS , BOMBED. ! Received Oct. 4, 12.5 a.m. ! 'Paris, Oct. 3. Official: Our heavy artillery cooperated with the British fleets in the bombardment, of tho German batteries at West Ende. The enemy in Artois directed a violent cannonade on the whole of our front from Neuville to the woods north of Souehez, but we replied energetically. An armed aeroplane in Champagne district hit a German captive balloon, which burst into Hames. Sixtyfive aeroplanes threw over three hundred shells on the railway station at Vouziers, the aviation ground and station at Challerange, and another aerial bombardment cut a moving train in two near Loan.

I THE GUNPLANE, |A SUCCESSFFUL FRENCH MACHINE. Received Oct. 4, 12.5 a.m. Paris, Oct. 2. Our aeroplanes that are bombarding the German lines are called "gun-planes." They really are biplanes, witli a small Hotchkiss gun upon the upper plane. The first experiments with these were made in January, when Captains fieny and Faure were killed. The gun-planes have since been improved, and are able to bombard towns from the air. Many of these planes are being used at the ifronfc.
