WANGANTJI MEETING. By Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The Wanganui Jockey Club's spring meeting opened to-day,ln fine weather. There was a good attendance, the totalisator handled £22,231, as against £19,053 on the first day last year. Results:—

FLYING HANDICAP. Six furlongs. —Mia Oara, 1; Bimeter, 2; Taringamntu, 3. All started. Won by a-bare head, third horse two lengths away. Time, lmin 133-osee.

MAIDEN RACE. Six furlongs.—Sea Down, 1; Moutoa Queen, 2; Mafsinah, 3. Scratched: Camp Guard. Won easily by two lengths, with one and a half lengths between second and third. Time, lmin losec. WANGANUI GUINEAS. One mile.Nones, 1; Battle Eve, 2; Hydros, 3. All started. Won easily by two lengths, third horse two lengtfca away. "Kme, Imtn 44scc.

OREHU HURDLES. Ona mile and-three-quarters.—Royal Arms, l;Styrax, 2; Aratiatia, 3. All the acceptors started. Won by a clear length, third horse half a length away. Time, 3min 18sec.

GONVILLE HACK HURDLES. One mile and five furlongs.-jSt. Gate, 1; Patronymic, 2; Parawanui, 3. Scratched: Calais. Won easily by a length and a half, third horse four lengths away. Time, 3min lsec.

PUTIKI HACK RACE. Six furlongs. —Coropet, 1; Bivouac, 2; Spain, 3. All started. Won by a length and a half, -the third horse a bare half length off. Time, lmin 14 4-ssec.
