FOOTBALL.
SCHOOLBOYS'. CHAMPIONSHIP. The final football match for the North Taranaki Schoolboys' Championship was played between the Stratford District High School and the New Plymouth High School Preparatory Department, at Inglewood on Saturday, when neither side registered a score. The game was very interesting throughout, and the Stratford team, though superior in many ways, could not get over their opponents' line. By drawing with New Plymouth in this match, the Stratford team retains the shield, as the New Plymouth boys were beaten by Waitara earlier in the season. The gaining of the shield is not a new accomplishment for the Stratford boy 3, as they have had it in their possession for the last five years. A coincidence of Saturday's match is that four years ago the same schools played a drawn game, and Stratford, who had not been beaten previously, returned to town with the shield. In the last six years the Stratford team has never been beaten, and only two teams have been goud enough to draw with them.
