THE GENERAL ELECTION. BETWEEN BOTHAITEfj AND HERTZOGITES. Capetown, Sept. 9. The election campaign is in full swing. Practically all the seats are contested. The main fight is between the liothaites and the Hertzogites. The latter are opposing all General Botha's candidates. The Bothaites are contesting all the Orangia seats which have hitherto been regarded as overwhelmingly llertzogite. A feature of the campaign is the number of candidates w'lio have served in the higher ranks against the Germans. The Bothaites appeal.fur a majority over all parties, emphasising South Africa's Imperial obligations. The Unionists offer to give full support to the Government. REBELS SENTENCED. Pretoria, Sept. 9, Forty-two followers of Kemp have received sentences varying from nine months to three year 3. The so-called prophet Rensburg, who hail considerable influence in the Western Transvaal, received eighteen months' imprisonment.
