IN THE WEST
VIOLENT FIGHTING. IN THE ARGONNE. Paris, Sept, 9. A communique states: There has been very violent fighting at La Fontaine-aux-C'harmes, in the Argonne, all night long. The Germans renewed their attacks with great persistence, but our line, except a portion ot a trench near Binarville, was maintained. There were considerable eneijiy losses, and we made some prisoners. A French dirigible bopibarded a railway station and factories at Nisle, ZEEBRUGGE BOMBARDMENT. FALSE GERMAN REPORT. Amsterdam, Sept. 9. The Telegraaf, contradicting Germany's minimising account of the bombardment of Zeebrugge 011 August 23, says that the British fleet, from a short distance, fired sixty shells, killed forty and wounded a hundred. They destroyed a fort for submarines, with t,wo submarines, also two guns on the! harbor wall. They damaged a third gun and badly damaged the central shed, containing two airships.
