CONCERT AT ST. MARY'S
AN ENJOYABLE [PROGRAMME. An enjoyable entertainment, comprising musical items and tableaux, was given in St. Mary's Hall last niglit, half the proceeds being for the Girls' Friendly Society, and half for the Belgian Relief Fund. The hall was crowded by an audience which was quick to appreciate the excellence of the different items, and the financial results of the concert should be very satisfactory. The stage was prettily decorated, and the arrangements were excellent, rejecting much credit on Miss Percy Smith and the ladies who assisted her in organising the entertainment. The programme opened with a pianoforte solo by Miss Beryl Hirst, and Miss Hirst later plso'fd another solo, both ifen.i being mush appreciated. Miss llirsi also played .wcral of the secom-pnr,:ri';-nts, and at ■ conclusion played ti.e .-.ational Ami::],!, which was sung by U.« audience. The tableau, "A Dream of J'"air Women" (Tennyson;, was a pp.i'Lieularly beautiful scene. The different characters, in their striking and distinctive costumes, were taken by Misses 1). Bradbury, Elthel flroatbach, E. Nliitcombe, X. Collins, Kdna GreatbaeSi M. Lennon, I. Crooke and I'. Whitcon.hc. Another pretty tableau was "The Beggar Maid," in which Misses Fortune (2), u Oorgde, Jurv, Simons, Monteath, Mace, Alilridgc, "Pe'tch, R. Robertson, anil K. Sliaw took part, while Mi-s i' 1 carrying the il.u; oi 1 lie I!«!«ian' rn.le a striking pi tun- as ''Tile l,"nooi:qui'i-al)!i! Little Country." A scene from "Kultur Land," which earned well merited praise at the recent High Seliool concert, was repeated and ajjain delighted the audience.
