LADIES' TOURNAMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Wellington, Last Night. The fifth round of the New Zealand Ladies' Hockey Championship tournament was played to-day in fine weather, and before a good attendance. Play was again lively and full of bright patches of excellent combination in attack and defence. Poverty Bay had a good tussle with Hawke's Bay, and the latter team had so much improved that they came near putting an extinguisher on the girls from across the water. The results to-day were:— Canterbury beat Wanganui by 5 goals to nil; Manawatu and Wairarapa drew, 2 goals each; Poverty Bay beat Hiwke's Bay by 1 goal to nil. Wellington had the bye.
