GOLF.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB, The semi-finals of the men's championship of the New Plymouth . Club were played on Saturday afternoon, and resulted:— F. S. Johns beat W. P. Nicoll, 5 up and 4. A. Bewley beat J. Austin, sup and 3. The final between F. S, Johns and A, Bewley will be played over thirty-sis holes next Saturday. The first round will be played in the morning, commencing about 11 o'clock, and the second round will start about 2 p.m. WITIORA CLUB, The semi-finals for the ladies' championship were played last week, with the following results:— Mrs. Buxton defeated Miss Goldwater, 5 up and 3. Miss Rundle defeated Miss E. Gilbert, 9 up and 7. At the Stratford golf liiuTs on Thursday, Mr. A. W. Budge, president of tlie chibj .on behalf of the members, bade farewell to Miss Fussell and M"r. Fussell. The club regretted losing two members .who had. been connected with it for a -very long time and had shown themselves ready to tase part not alone in the affaire of the club but in all social . functions in Stratford. The president referred to the warm appreciation generally- felt for Mr. Fussell's action in volunteering for active service. In this connection Mr. Budge spoke of Mr. L. ..Curtis,-another member of the club, and of. Mr. G. Hunter, who, with Mr. Fussell, are leaying for Trentham to-day (Monday) . After expressing an earnest lio,pe that Mr. Fussell would soon return to ■Stratford with Miss. Fussell and resume his practice, Mr. Budge presented the members' gifts (to Miss Fussell a wristlet watch, and to Mr. Fussell a set of military brushes).
