DISTRICT NEWS.
PHONE ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent). A pleasant gathering met at the residence of Mr. Sewing, Pitone road, on Saturday evening to say good-bye to Mr. Harold Fisher, who is going to Trentham next week. The Rev. T. W. Featherstone, on behalf of the settlers, presented the guest with a wristlet watdi, a wallet and pocket-book, and all joined in wishing him good luck a/id God-speed. The opportunity was also taken to say good-bye to Mr. and Mrs. Wood more and Mr. and Mrs. Alexander, who ara also leaving the neighborhood. Mr. K ft. Tunnicliff (chairman), on behalf of the School Committee and friends, presented Mr. and Mrs. Woodmore with a tobacco pouch and silver cruet respectively; and Mr. and Mrs. Alexander with a safety razor and silver butterdish respectively. To Master Alexander (the baby) was giv.?n u nigger moneybox, which the good friends in the room went a good way towards filling. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr. aid Mrs. Newing, the host and hostess, and the singing of the .\,i;ional Anion brought a most suc,'j-;s!ul social to a close.
