BATTLE OF CORIZIA. AN ITALIAN TURNING MOVEMENT. Received July 23, 9 p.m. Rome, July 23. The battle at Gorizia is involving an Italian turning movement, sweeping ,ii! before it. General Cadorna's troops from Gradisca are attacking the Podgora anil Sabolino mountains, which, although on the right bank of the Isonzo, dominate Gorizia. The Italians are holding Phv a and forcing their way from llonto Santo to the top of Podora, which is crowned with five forts and twelve-inch guns, while the slope of Podora is cut up into trenches with sliding armored shutters in vast grottos. The Austrians keep strong -reserves.' When the Italians capture a section, behind which the Austrians' retire, they are block-in? up the remainder of the wall with quickly-dry-ing, cement. General Cadorna is simultaneously attempting the reduction of Tolmino, which is almost surrounded.
GREAT BLOODSHED. AUSTRIAN'S CLAIM SUCCESS. Received July 23, 8.jl) p.m. Vienna, July 23. Our defenders of the Dohcrdo jilatea.i brilliantly repulsed all attacks. The Italians kept up an advance on Polazzo sector and attacked at night, but .ill assaults were repulsed with great bloodshed. We counter-attacked at Sdrasussina and recaptured all positions. The Italians continually brought up fivsli forces -to the bridgehead at Podgora. Ten infantry regiments in succession made barren attacks, and the battle continually developed into haud-to-hanl fighting. Three assaults failed. The enemy pierced some parts of our trenches, but were repulsed, and the battle is still undecided.
