ENTERTAINMENTS.

-MUSIC AND THK INDUSTRIAL CLASSES. I The wonderful Chorniavskvs will be ffiht us on July 21st, ami great enthusiasm is being felt ill their visit. An Auckland paper published the following:—"The most recent light shed by psychological research on music is quite fascinating and calculated to arouse the greatest enthusiasm amongst all classes of the community. It seems that the objective of inusie is to inspire and stimulate various activities, physical, 'mental and spiritual. A good deal of instrumental inusie is intended to elevate the industrial workers and inspire them. This is the design that psychic students have discerned behind the origin of music. In future our workers, agricultural and otherwise, will be able to look at music from this aspect, an aspect which is indeed calculated to make one feel grateful to the Giver of all life, for His encouragement, for of all classes of workers, we think the agriculturalist requires stimulating to give of his be efforts. We trust that our community will take this matter seriously and in future do all in their power to develop music in their midst. The advent of Leo, Jan and Jlisehel Cherniavsky, the world-famous violinist, pianist, and 'cellist, should be used as an impulse to give the necessary enthusiasm to the idea. We should consider it a sacred duty that devolves upon us, to bid a hearty welcome to all great artists that visit lis in the future." Let lis be determined to give such a stirring reception to these wonderfully gifted artists that the enthusiasm aroused may tend towards inducing other great artists to visit our town. To achieve this purpose we must show the Cherniavskys that we know how to appreciate a good thing when it comes our way. The plan is at Collier's.
