TAUMARUNUI ELECTION.
MR. RUSSELL AT URENUI. Mr. G. W. Russell, M.P. for Avon, addressed a meeting of electors in Urcniti last night, in support of tho candidature of Mr. W. T. Jennings for the Taumaru. nui by-election. Mr. A„ M. Bower, chairman of the Clifton County Council, presided over an- attendance of about fifty. The speaker, whose address was on the same lines as that delivered at Waitara on Wednesday evening, received a very .sympathetic and attentive hearing, ap-' plause being frequent. At the conclusion, on the motion of Mr. C. J. Wilson, seconded by Mr. R. H. Pigott, a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Russell for his address, and a vote of confidence in Sir Joseph Ward and the Liberal party, and Mr. Jennings as member for Taumarunui was unanimously carried. Mr. Russell said that this was the most unanimous meeting that he had ever addressed. The meeting concluded with the National Anthem, Mr. Russell playing the accompaniment. Hearty cheers were given for "the King," "the Boys at the Front," "their mothers, sweethearts, and wives," "Sir Joseph Ward," and "Mr. Jennings."
