DEFENCE ENQUIRIES.
A NEW.ARRANGEMENT. Arrangements have been made by tlu| Minister for Defence, the Hon. James Allen, and the postal authorities for the establishment at every chief post office of an inquiry bureau, at which the public may make inquiries on any matters they limy be particularly interested in concerning New Zealand's share in the war. It has come to the knowledge of the postal authorities from time to time that many people arc quite at sea as to the avenues of information on « variety of things connected with the war, and particularly in matters concerning communication with our men at the front, or those lying in the various hospitals, and in order to give the public erery facility of finding out as quickly as possible any legitimate information these bureaux are being established. . Not only will it he competent for inquiries to be made at chief post offices, but instructions are also being issued to post ofliees in the smaller centres to attend to such inquiries. The postal authorities have gone thoroughly into the matter, and hope to be prepared to answer all inquiries, as far as lies in / their power, by the end of the week. At New Plymouth no special officer 1 will be reserved for thisVork, but those desiring information on the lines mentioned by the Minister may apply to the clerks at the main counter at the post office, who will attend to these matters and give all information possible.
