He considered that it was high time that the district .sliouW possess an adequate water supply, iin.l he pointed out that there was a plentiful supply in the rivers of the district, and that they wore not leaning solely upon the Council to assist them in this matter. An extension of the electric lighting system to lite district was lib) considered necessary, and it was agreed to request the council to erect lampposts from the tram line to the. borough boundary, and also to ask the County Council to erect lamp posts to the top of Omata hill. This h::d not been done, and at present some of the people of the district (about ten in number) were plitccd under the necessity of providing the salary of a teacher from their own pockets, no assistance being received from the Government. It was considered that the Department should at least sulsidise the money raised for this purpose. An improved mail service was another question brought up, and a suggestion an cirort in this direction received hearty support. It was unanimously agreed that deputations should wait upon the various local bodies interested in connection with the matters discussed, and the following were appointed a committee to forward the interests of the district: Messrs D.
