WAXGAXUI HACKS. PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY. (Special to Xcws.) (Bv Moturoa.) Wanganui, l-iist Xight. Tlic weather promises to ho line for the concluding day of the Wangaiiui meeting. The acceptances are good, with the exception of two events, tne Winter Oats .Handicap and the May Hurdler

The proceedings will opon with tl'c Ywntor Oats, in'which the field, though small, contains sullieiont quality to ensure a good race. Hoy and Veronal, on the strength of their first day's form, are much discussed candidates.

Olient and Salvia proved themselves much superior to the hacks on Thursday, and the weight may not trouble them in the Balgownic Hack Handicap.

A liig field will face the starter i!i the Grandstand Handicap, and this should be the finest race of the day. Daylight Bill has gone up 231b, but he won so handsomely in the Wanganui Steeplechase and the shorter distance is so much more to his liking that the public are sure to send him out in warm order. Soporific should also be well backed. Thirteen remain in the Rata Hack Hurdles, but St. Gatfe is likely to lie reserved for the open event. Jolie Fille and Rirkful are expected to improve on the first day's running, but the race looks very ope.

Corrie will be started in the May Hurdles, but Black Northern may hold Jicr safe, at a difference of 71b.

Another good field of thirteen figure in tin; Empire Handicap. Doubtless Emperador's big army of followers will lie trying to regain their lost shekels to-day, but Honny Rigg and Maniaroa mav keep the top weight liusv. Tlie racing concludes with the- Farewell Hack Handicap, in which Gallupin, if reserved, and JlaJtegarde will have plenty of backers. XORTI-I OTAGO MEETIXG.
