ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A SLIP TO DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 20. A' man named Murphy, about 40 years old, slipped on the pavement outside the lAiubton Quay police station this evening, striking the flagstones heavily with his *iead. His skull was badly fractured and he died soon after admission to the hospital. Nothing is known of Murphy's relatives, KILLED BY GAS EXPLOSION. Dunedin, May 21. Mary McWhinnie, aged 53, formerly of North Otago, was killed by a gas explosion at Tarras. It was stated at the inquest that deceased, while carrying a naked light opened the ga3 chamber of an acetylene plant. The force of the explosion fractured her skull, death ensuing within 24 hours. A WOMANS SUICIDE. Wellington, May 21. A young married woman named Nellie MePherson, aged 28, was found dead in bed 'at her home in Vivian Street with her throat cut. She left a note asking to be buried with her baby. Her husband lives at Oamaru. j
