The chairman of the British Broken Hill Company, speaking at a 3ener.ll meeting, said lie was hopeful that a workable scheme would be evolved to treat zinc concentrates in Britain. Ho hoped the British Government would do what the Australian Government had done. MURDER AND SUICIDE. Melbourne, May 21. At the inquest on the Morrisons, who were found shot, the verdict was that Mrs. Morrison and her son were wilfully murdered by Daniel Mcintosh, her brother, who, while in a demented state, set fire to the house and then committed suicide.
VICTORIAN LIQUOR LAW. Melbourne, May 21. The Bill restricting the hours of sale of liquor provides severe penalties for drunkenness. For a first offence an offender is liable to fourteen days' imprisonment, and for a second to a month, and for a third to a fine of £lO or three months' imprisonment. Women offenders may be sent to a reformatory. MT. LYELL MINE. Melbourne, May 21. The Mt. Lycll returns from April 15 to May 12, inclusive, showed that 20,003 tons of ore were treated and yielded 702 tons of copper, 35,253 ounces of silver and 810 ounces of gold. p HIGH PRICE FOR CATTLE. , Received May 21, 8.5 p.m. Sydney, May 21. The highest price has been paid for cattlo that has been paid at Homebush since WO2.
