The Premiers' Conference discussed various steps in connection with tlw proposed strategic railway, and resolved that while recognising its importance and being anxioiu to help the < •immopwealth in the matter, it was desired t» avoid the unprofitable duplication of existing lines. 'I herein- that the best interests of a'l would l.e served by an immediate conference with the Railway Commissioners and military authorities and to report to the Commonwealth and State Governments.
