SUPREME COURT.
Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, Mav Wills was convicted of theft of C'£i ffom a Chinaman. Sentence was deferred. John .Johnston, found guilty of assaulting a soldier so as to cause bodily harm, was also remanded for sentence. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, Hector McLean, for breaking and entering and theft was sentenced to live years imprisonment with hard labor. Prisoner recently came from Australia, and' lipoa him was found a certificate of probation from the Pen f ridge gaol. Hiß Victorian record showc<T nine convictions. He was released in Melbourne in March, and arrived in Wellington on April 2nd, 101! i. lie came to Christchurch on- April -•'111, and committed the oirence on the following day. Emanuel Kirdy, a foreigner, came up for sentence on a charge of incest. IPa Honor said that he had no sympathy for prisoner, as he had habitually committed incest with a fifteen-year-old child. He would be sentenced to ten years' imprisonment.
