WHERE IS AMERICA?
HON. JAS. ALLEN IS SATISFIED. AMERICAN VISITORS ARK HURT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last ■ Night. Two American citizens, Mr. William C. Allen, a member of the Peace Conmission of the Federal Council of the Churches in America, and Mr. W. R. Harvey, of Philadelphia, who have arrived here, report that they have been somewhat distressed by hearing New Zealanders' outspoken criticism of America's attitude towards Britain ;'n this war. In consequence they have furnished the Hon. Jas. Allen, Minister for Defence, with a memorandum on the subject, assuring him of America's friendship. Commenting on this, Hon. Jas. Alien says, "I have told these gentlemen that they must not take casual words that they hear as evidence of the general feeling in New Zealand towards the United States. I have given them my own assurance, as I believe, I am speaking for most of the. people in New Zealand when 1 say we look upon the United States as our sincere friend, especially in this time of trial. My belief is that America is rendering valuable service to the Empire at the present time."
