The New Zealand Championship atliletic meeting was hi'lil in ideal weather on tlie Basin lieservc. Wellington won the Sliielil with 7rt points, Otago obtaining 10, Southland 11, Canterbury 8. am! Auckland 0. The proceeds of the. meeting, totalling some .€44(1, go to form u nucleus of the fund for killed anil wounded soldiers of the Wellington Province and their dependants. Final: A. lialligau (Wellington) 1. 11. F. Wilson (Wellington) 2. P. E. Doyle (Wellington) was the only other starter. Both be and Wilson fell at the fifth hurdle from home, but the latter went on and finished. Doyle injured his knee. At the time lialligau had a, slight lead over Wilson, Doyle lying two feet behind, third. Time-. IIN-ssees. HOP. STEP, AND JUMP.—E. J. Sutherland (Wellington), 43ft. (iin., 1; C. E. Second heat: 11. Martis (Wellington) 1. F. M. Perkins (Otago) 2. Also started: E. E. 1).- Pago (Canterbury), R. Adams (Widlington), and F. o.' Hubbard (Wellington). Won very easily . Time 23 4-ssecs.
Final: IT. Martis (Wellington)-], E. 13. Batstone (Canterbury) 2. F. M. Perkins (Otago) 3. This was one of the best races of the day. Martis got ahead, but Batstone kept on bis hods, and the champion had to extend to his best to win. He got home just a yard ahead. Martis equalled the standard time of 22 4-Osecs.

(INK-MILE WALK—A. Sievwrigbt (Wellington.) 1, T. Johnston (Wellington) 2. The other starters were: P. J. Fitzgerald (Wellington) and IX Wilson (Canterbury), who were both disqualified for breaking. Time, 7min. 55 4-5 sees.
HIOII JUMP.—P. E. Dovlc (Wellington!, sft. 7 5-Bin., 1; R. Kirk (Otago), sft. Tin., 2. Also competed: E. G. Sutherland (Wellington), M. Neilson (Wellington), V. Hazlett (Southland), C. E. Robertson (Auckland), and C. Laurie (Auckland). THREE MILES.—J. Beatson (Otago) 1, 11. Williams (Wellington) 2, R. Ballantync (Wellington) 3. Also competed: C. F. Williams (Canterbury), W. 11. A. Turner (Canterbury), O. C. Travers (Auckland), W. Brown (Southland) and W. Druinmond (Wellington). Beatson kept it beautiful even pace, and won comfortably bv -10 yards. Time, 15min. 4 l-ssec's.
410 YARDS.—J. Wilton (Wellington) I, B. Batstonc (Canterbury) 2, A. A. Edwards (Auckland) 3. Also competed: 11. Martis (Wellington), and R. Adams (AVellington). Martis went into the lead, but cracked up half way round. Wilton then won comfortably by a yard and a half. Time, 53sccs. POLE JUMP.—G. Harvey (Wellington), 10ft. 3in., 1; J. W. Batstone (Canterbury), 10ft. lin., 2. Also competed: F. Hazlett (Southland) and C. Laurie (Auckland).
