BURGLAR CAPTURED.

BY PLUCKY GROCER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, March 11. Ernest Varley, grocer, Dominion Koad, had a sensational encounter with two burglars at midnight. Varley. who had been sleeping on the shop premises since a previous attempt at burglary was armed with a revolver. He heard the till being opened in the adjoining shop, and shortly afterwards heard a key inserted into the lock of hi., front door which had been also fastened with a holt. Varley slipped out of bed and released the bolt, when two men entered _ Varley stepped back into the corner behind the door, but in doing so knocked down some jam-tins. He immediately covered the burglars with his revolver, ordering them to put up their hands. He states that one of the bur*ars drew a revolver, whereupon he (Varley) fired, shooting on? man through the arm. Both burglars then bolted and Varley. following them across -i vacant section, captured the wounded man, whom he escorted to the police "*"■";■ where he was placed under nr-ii-it.
