ENTERTAINMENTS.

SAN TOY. For their third appearance in New Plymouth last night the New Plymouth Operatic Society had a most flattering recption, The interval that had elapsed between their previous appearance and last nighfJ'in no way affected thou-per. tormance, everything going off with a wonderful swing. The musical items were well received, the concerted numbers being finely rendered, "The Motherland," with a trooper! and a blue-jacket, and a diminutive sailor with a bull dog in the. foreground, waß perhaps the favorite song of tho evening. Mrs Birch-Johnston again upheld her reputation and acted her part of "San Toy" with conspicuous success. Mrs Dell and Miss K. Bennett took the parts well and Messrs Alf. Gray and Will McEwen, unlield the high opinion previous! v formed of their performances. "San Toy" was a success in every way. "HUMPTY DUMPTY."

The pantomine s.'ason which commences here at the Theatre Royal, on Tuesday next under the direction of George Stephenson and Alf. Linley promises something exceptional in the matter of scenery. Mr Harry Whaite, Australia's foremost scenic artist, has turned out some striking scenes. The most hotable ones are "The Palace of King Dazzlum," "Widow Buttercup's Farm," "The Bazaar at, Dumty Town," and the gorgeous transformation in six scenes "Dreamland." A host of other attractions are promised, including a speciality by Lennon Hyman and Lennon entitled "Fun in a Restaurant," and "The Egg,"' "Can Can," and Tango ballets by a largj "Corps de Ballet" introduced 'by Miss 'Ethel Clifford of StylnJy. The "March of the Allies," showing Britain, Russia. France Japan. Belgium. Australia, and New Zealand in their National colours has a very inspiriting effect on the Midience. On Wednesday night, the tuneful musical extravaganza will be the attraction.
