GARDEN FETE. Tin- <ucccrs of the forthcoming grand fete to bo licit] in Pukekura Park on Thursday is assured from the generous way in w'liich contributions for the different stalls are pouring in at present. Donors, are appearing in every quarter, and sifts for this patriotic fete arc coming from the most varied sources. The cenn'.iy people are not the least generous, and some of their gifts, especially to the Victoria League, are most highly appreciated. All the work in connection with the fete is voluntary. A fine example of this generosity is found .n the doll stall, to which about 72 doltf i have so far lwr\ given. EoiTman has consented to taki I charga of a "Guessing Stall," which is tf .be devoted to a number of these nove I competitions, substantial prizes bom; provided. For the amusement of th children two motor-cars have beei secured, and Mr Jackson's motor 'bus all three of which will !be used fo: running children round the Sport Ground. All were offered free by th. owners. There should be a feast o music'on the day of the fete, as Mrs George's Orchestra, the Orchestral Union, the Citizens' Pand, and the East End Merrymakers will all bo well to the fore. Given a fine summer day, the interesting and varied programme amid such beautiful surroundings ou<»ht to provide a good day's enjoyment.
