The Premier has received the following from the High Commissioner:— London, January 21, 3.35 a.m. i Paris reports that the Allies recaptured yesterday a trench north of Notre Dame de Lorette, taking a hundred ''prisoners. Tlie enemy, attacking south of Thienvay region and Albert, reached the 'Allies' wire entanglements, hut were re- ' pulsed. Three attacks at La Boiselle met the "same fate. In Argonne a German attack at La Fontaine aux Charmes was repelled after hand-to-hand fighting. Petrograd reports that north of Rawa two enemy's attacks were checked by artillery and the Germans compelled to , fall back. ' Th German offensive- at the bridgehead at Nitkozitze was repelled. II In Western Galicia the enemy havijjg heavily bombarded the Russian position south of Radlow, and having fired two villages, a compact force reached our wire entanglements, where they met a withering fire and suffered great losses, causing them to fall back. The Russians are successfully advancing in Bukovina. They occupied the village of Joananescliti, and took many prisoners.
