station at habaul, mines previously laid by the Germans failed to explode. The men continually marched over them, and they were finally exploded on his orders. The mine was formed with a six-inch iron pipe, fifty feet long, and filled with dynamite, and above the pipe were stones and iron bolts. The whole was buried a foot beneat'i the road and 70 feet was ripped up, stones being hurled a hundred feet into the air. An unnamed Labor league, communicating with Mr. Ashford, commends the wheat and suggests that the Government should seize wool in the same way. Mr Ashford says that legislation dealing with the (matter is unlikely at present. Farmers' Limited is the first business firm to form a rifle club among its employees. "MORIi BABY-KILLING!"
