The annual report of the Master Builders' Association indicates that though the building trade has suffered heavily by the war the last year's output was an increase over the previous year's. Dealing with unionism, the report advocates concerted action a.mong employers, and suggests the affiliation of other associations. Melbourne, January 20. In connection with the Chamber of Manufacturers' decision not to sign the new clause in defence contracts, Mr Jensen warns the president of the chamber that he is standing on very thin ice. The department will not allow itself tl be threatened, and he suggests that persons have been interned for making statements concerning the Empire in less strong terms than the President's.
