TOTALISATOR COMMISSION.
IN NEW PLYMOUTH DISTRICT. Tiio Totalizator Commission, emu' -t----ing of Messrs. A. Hunter, M.P., am: I'. 11. Div.-ey, and the seeretary (Mr. J. I). Gray), visited the New Plymouth r;. :e----eourse yesterday morning, "being accompanied by members of the Taranaki Jockey Club and the North Taranaki Hunt Club, The Commissioners remarked on the splendid order in which the grounds and course were kept, and the contrast afforded liy the luxuriant growth of green grass to some other courses they had visited.
The visitors then motored to Lcppcrton, where they were met by the committee of the Waitara Pacing Club, who gave evidence concerning the W.R.C. permit. After inspecting the course, the party drove into New Plymouth, where, at 10.30 a.m., they received a deputation from the North Taranaki Hunt Club, consisting of Messrs. E. P. Bhmdcll (president), P. 11. Chancy (deputy master), A. R. Staud'isli, A. L. Humphries, W. C. Weston, \V. tlookham, and E. L. Humphries (seeretary). The deputation briefly stated the case, and gave evidence in support of their application for a totalisator permit for the annual race meeting. The deputation were courteously received by the Commissioners, who enquired closely into all details. Business was dealt with very promptly. Afterwards the officials of the Taranaki Jockey Club entertained the visitors, and showed the points of interest around the town, the Commission finally leaving by the mid-day train for Hawera
