A Loudon cable announces the death of .t|he Karl of Feversha.ni, aged 85 years. The resignation of Mr Charles Ernest fcj+itliaiu was gazetted last night, Mr Kobcit Triggs is gazetted deputy for My Dtiiald Robertson, the Public Service Commissioner, during the latler's absence from Wellington. At the parade of the 11th Regiment (A Company, Taranaki Rifles) on Wednesday night, Rifleman S. Higgs, of No. 3 Platoon, was presented with a gold medal for being the champion shot in the old A Company l . As the championship belt has been lost and cannot bu recovered a gold medal only was presented.
Writes a London correspondent:— Major A. D. Owing to inadvertence the professional career of the '•runner up'' fur tile position of electrical tramways engineer of the New Plymouth Bo'i'ough Council was given yesterday as that of the successful applicant, Mr Russell IT. Bartley. Tlie. newly appointed engineer served Vis apprenticeship from 1902 to !!>(!« with Messrs. Crompton and Co. of London. From 190(5 to 100!) he was with tli,- North Metropolitan Elcciric Power Supply and Distribution Companv, London, from 1009 to 1012 with tlie Citv of Coventry Corporation Electricity Department, and from 1013 lias held the position of electrical engineer to the Te Kniti Borough Council.
