Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited have received the following information from their London olliee under date lllth ilist.—"The wool sales have closed with merinos weak and crossbreds lirm, but it seems that top prices haw been reached. Prices were lower for good greasy merinos by .10 per cent, and for scoured and greasy medium quality 15 to 20 per cent., and inferior and faulty, '2O to 25 per cent. Good quality scoured shows a decline of 15 per cent., short faulty merinos were not wanted. l'"or greasy crossbreds any change was in favour ofbuyers and for scoured and slipes in favour of sellers." NEW PLYMOUTH HIDE, SKIN, WOOL, AND TALLOW- SALES. L. A. Nolan and Co., report as follows: Our monthly sale of the above; the last for this year, eventuated on the 15th inst. Catalogue of hides and skins was considerably under Wie average, one reason being the fact that only three weeks elapsed since the previous sale. The more potent reason was, however, the fear in the minds of some of the consignors that owing to the proximity of Christmas the competition would not be good. A perusal of prices obtained will show, however, that prices were never better. Very few lines of butchers' cows sold under Dd per lb. Sheepskins | easily maintained last month's high level, if anything being a trifle higher. Wool sold well, prices offered being in some instances equal to those paid last month, in others Jd to Ad below. This, taking quotations from the main sales into consideration speaks well for the competition obtained in Taranaki. Calfskins maintained their recent high level and tallow was slightly better.
