In reply to Mr Massey's inquiries, the Attorney-General informed the New Zealand Government, tint it could have a hundred thousand bushels of wheat, provided the New South Wales Government, in March next, could demand to have that quantity sent back in the following July He explained: "If it is found that we have a shortage New Zealand will have to got a hundred thousand bushels for us from some other part, but if our harvest is larger than we expect we will not demand it back." The New Zealand Government replied accepting the terms, and asking New South Wales to send the wheat as quickly as possible.
