While a box of dynamite was being lowered with a party of miners down a shaft in Delaware ' Lackawana Mine, owned by the Western Coal Company of Pennsylvania, it exploded wrecking the cage and killing thirteen. There was one survivor. The cage was in flames and fell to the bottom of the shaft. TRIPLE-STRENGTH STEEL. Now York, December !). Professor Michelseen, of Chicago, lias announced a new process which will triple the present strength of steel and enable fortifications to resist the heaviest guns. Skyscrapers could also be erected to hitherto unattainable heights and larger suspension bridges built.
