LONDON MARKETS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright London, December 9. At the tallow sales 907 casks were offered and 822 sold. Mutton, fine 30s, medium 32s 6d; beef, fine 37s 6d. Wheat. —Firm. The visible supply is 110,930,000 bushels. Wool. —At the sales there was good competition and best merinos were slightly firmer, but faulty were irregular and in buyers' favour. Crossbreds were unchanged. Cooper.—Spot £59 to £sfi ss, three months £56 2s Od to £56 7a fid. Tin.—Spot £146 to £146 10s, three months £144 15s to £145 ss. Lead, £l9 2s fid to £l9 ss. Spelter, £27 15s to £2B 2g 6d. Silver, 231-16(1. Linseed oil, £23. Turpentine, 34s -lid. Wheat.—Very firm. Sir .George Reid lias had numerous inquiries regarding the possibility of a new market in England for zinc ores, zinc concentrates, lead, molybdenum and wolf rain. Sir George Reid lias placed English firms in communication with Australia.

The general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand has received a crtble from London advising that the d ; rectors have declared an interim dividend for the half year to September , 3'J, at the. rate of 12 per cent, per annum, which will be paid in the Dominion on January 4. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry,—At the mart on Saturday, our pens were taxed with birds of all classes. Prices still remain about the same as the previous week. We still have an unsatisfied demand for turkeys, gobblers, hens, fat cockerels, and hens. Prices as under: Hens, young, Is 7d, to 2s Id; fat, 2s to 2s 10d; cockerels, young, Is 8d to 2s 2d; rat, to 3s 3d; hens, laying, 2s (id to 2s lid; ducklings, young, fid to lid; forward, Is 6d to 2s Od; ducks, 2s to 2s sd; drakes, 2s 3d to 2s fid; turkey gobblers, 10s. The usual line of auction sundries realised satisfactory priees. Fruit.—During the week, large quantities of fruit have arrived from Nelson, Auckland and Hawke's Bay. Prices ve still firm, and are likely to remain po till after Christmas. Prices as under, according to quality of fruit and size of cases:—Bananas, ripe, 3d lb; oranges, American Navel, scarce, £1 8s; apples, American Winesaps, 16s 9d to 17s 3d; tomatoes, Ist grade, lid to Is Id lb.; 2nd grade, 7d to 9d lb.; cucumbers, 4s Od to 5s Od doz.; cherries, 9d to Is; Ist grade; 2nd grade, 6d to 9d lb.; grapes, 2s fid per lb.; gooseberries, 3s to 4s fid; plums, 3d to 4d lb.; lemons, Is 2d doz, ; strawberries, la to Is 3d per kit; green peas, fld to Is 3d; new potatoes, to 2d per lb.
