WOOL SALES. PRICES EASIER AT TDIARU. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Timaru, Last Night. At the first wool sale of the season today 5371 bales were offered, and 72-!f> sold. American buying was barred, butlarge orders for the Army enabled Home buyers to compete freely for all suitable wools. Owing to the dry weather ami high winds some of the wool was very earthy, but a number of clips were bright and attractive. The report flint prioes, as compared with the recent Christchurch sales, receded from Vad for low-grade crossbreds to Id 011 medium half-breds and bright three-quar-ter bTeds and fine crossbreds, while bellies, pieces, and locks showed no decline.
Tho following is tlic range of prices:— Merino (very little), H'/jd to lid; super half-bred and Corriedale, J2d to 14d (one lot 14Jtl'); medium, ilOd to llJd; inferior, S'/od to !)%■<!; super three-quarter and erossb-red, lid to medium, Dd to inferior, 7'Y|d to B%d; best prjto lid (one lot 12d); me(lituvi ,7il ()d; -inferior, o%d to (!%d.
