STOPPAGE OF THE GIFT SCHEME. REINFORCEMENTS NEGLECTED. AN APPEAL. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association, Wellington, December 2. Up to the present the second reinforcements now encamped at Trentham have received little or nothing from the public in the way of gifts for use on the long voyage Home, the total donations up to date comprising only one piano from a resident of Wellington and one ton of literature from the Wellington Boy Scouts. The men feel sore at having been so overlooked, especially as all kinds of gifts were showered upon the main force. Gifts of two more pianos will be specially welcomed by the nine, also gramophones and records, literature, cases of fruit, tinned and dried fruits, cakes, etc. All gifts should be addressed "Second Reinforcements," care of Major Potter, Camp Commandant, Trentham. As the force comprises over two thousand men it is hoped there will be a general and prompt response by the public and patriotic committees. ME. GAUDIN TO GO BACK TO SAMOA. Wellington, December 2. At the request of Colonel Logan, the military authorities are sending back to Samoa, Mr. Gaudin, who was recently arrested in Auckland on suspicion of attempting to convey correspondence to the enemy's subjects. AN ACCIDENT AT SAMOA. Wellington, December 2. A wireless message from Samoa states that Colonel C. Hareourt Turner (Wellington), commanding the infantry there, broke a leg in a buggy accident.
