DRIVEN TO SUICIDE.
AUSTRIAN 'HOUNDED TO ©EA.TH. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Dargaville, Last Night. A suicide by shooting in the left lung of Prank Pavlovich, a native H«rzegovinian at Mangaw"hare on Sa-tuxday nigiht produced somewhat sensational evidence at the inquest -tins' morning. It appears that Britishers chased the deceased on Wednesday, owing to hj% having, with another compatriot, obtained a county road contrast. It is admitted that some unnatutsilised so-cal-led Austrians are working on various Croatian road contracts. A semi-dis-guised feeling of enmity on the part of Britishers here has been apparent since tiiio gumdiggers 'have taken on other work. The police were instructed' by "die Coroner to inquire further into the charges of I!h>reats by the Britishers, and the jnwuest was adjourned until to-morrow afternoon. There is also simj meriiLg discontent owing to foreigners being employed on the Kuihu railway extension worlcs.
