PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Dunedin, November 25. In regard to the promotion of a Church of F.ngkmd Bishop to the ranks of senior chaplain, the Presbyterian Assembly expressed its strong opposition to the promotion on the basis of ecclesiastical position, and altogether prefaced the present basis of military service. If the request was granted to the Anglican Church, the Presbyterian Church would expect an equal number of Presbyterian chaplains to receive promotion. The Assembly agreed to the creation of a new presbytery to be known as the Presbytery of Ashburton. It was decided that next year's conference should be held at Ashburton.
