THE VICTORIAN ELECTIONS. By cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Melbourne, November 24. The State elections take place on Thursday, and a vigorous campaign is ending. The chief labour planks are the abolition of the Legislative Council, initiative and referendum, and opposition to the referendum Oil Bible-read-ing in State schools. The Liberals favour the reduction of the Council's franchise and leave the other two questions open.
NEW LABOUR PARTY WANTED. Sydney, November 24. Tile Colliery Employees' Federation is calling a conference to consider the formation of a new labour party. It is stated that this is the outcome of the Government's action with regard to the Arbitration Act, the non-introduction of an Eight Hours' Bill, and the failure to abolish the Upper House and night mines.
