The top price in the sale was srcured by Levin and Co. for a line of six bales of Soutlulowns from Mr. Jas. 'Knight, Fcilding, which brought 14« d per pound. The, same firm also obtained 13y 3 d per pound for a line of.Wairarapa crossbreds from Otatinao station, and this is believed to be the top pries 1 for this description of wool Tie sale was conducted subject to the New Zealand competition regulations prohibiting sales to persons representing enemy countries. . J The wool came from Marlborough as I well aa from the Wairarapa and other [Wellington districts. It was generally •well grown, hut carried a fair amount of grease, due to the very dry weather of late.

SOUTHERN MARKETS. ' ; Christchurch, November 17. Since the holiday week business in the ' '.' grain and produce market has opened very quietly. No wheat is offering, and \ very few oats. Oatsheaf chaff is in 'fair demand, and the price has firmed to £3 3s od. As there is only a limited amount offering, potatoes have advanced to £$ '■ 10s per ton at country stations. When the price got down to 20s per ton trade V was neglected, as it was not expected ; to improve again, and stocks were al- ' lowed to r,un down; severe frosts, which cut down crops, especially in the North Island, has renewed the demand for old '"-> potatoes, and the price has been raised to secure supplies. , LONDON MARKETS.
