At Albert street yards on Friday] heavy draught horses sold at from £25 to £33; medium ditto, £lB to £2O; light harness liorses, £S to £10; backs, £5 to £l2 10s; ponies, £3 to £5. At Pukekohe yards on Monday best dairy cows close to profit sold at from £8 to £10; heifers, £7 to £!) 10s; others, £4 to £G las; aged and inferior cows, £2 10s to £4. Bulls sold at from £3 to £lO 10s.
At the Pukekohe yards on Tuesday grown steers made £8 to £9 os, tw'o to three-year-old steers, £f! 10s to £7 17s Vid; yearling to 18-montlis steers £4. to £5 ss; steer calves, good, £2 10s to £3 3s; others, 20s to 355; empty cows, £2 10s to £'4; heifers, £2 to £3 3s; bulls, £3 to £7 10s. Beef yarded in numbers to 148 head. Competition was keen for steers; cow beef easier. Steers sold at from £9 15s to £l7; cows, £4 10s to £0 His.
At Westfielil yards prime oxen sold at from 38s to 3!>s; others, 35s to 37s Od; ! cows and heifers £5 to £ll pis lid. A draft of 10 steers averaged £ls 18s,' and nearly all the Waikalo consignments , averaged over £l3. Calves were yard-! Ed in record numbers, and sold at improved rates.. Heavy weight, £4 10s, to £5 15s; medium ditto, £3 to £4 4s; ligbter, £2 2s to £2 ISs; smaller, 235! to £2; smaller and fresh dropped, 3s to 20s. Sheep were again yarded in extra large numbers, and owing to Southdown works being unable to take any for J freezing this week, thus stopping the! freezing buyers operating, prices were ] lower from Is to 2s per head. Best wethers sold at from 20s to 24s 3d; others, 17n (id to 20s; heavy ewes, extra heavy, 21s to 23s Oil; others, 15s to 20s 0(1; hoggets, 14s fid to 18s i)d. Lambs were penned in large numbers and sold at late rates. First quality, 17s 3d to IDs; others, 13s 3d to Kis lid; store ditto, 8s 9d to 12s Od. Pigs were penned in large numbers, and sold at late rates. Baconers sold at from £3 3s to £4 4s, large porkers £4 5s to £2 as, slips 15s to 235, weaners 5s lid to 15s.
