NORTH TARANAKI HUNT.

ANNUA!, REPORT. At the anna! meeting of the North Taranaki Hunt Club on Saturday, the committee v/iix j.-iv.-nuit the following report:— Ladies and Gentlemen, —In presenting to you the animal report and balancesheet for IBlu-J-i we must congratulate you upon having had a very successful season in every respect. At the beginning of the season your committee were called upon to appoint a new huntsman, and selected Air. -V C. Pepperell, who, wo are pleased to say, has turned out to be very satisfactory, having Kept the hounds in good working condition, and hunted them to the satisfaction of your committee, i The Hunt has enjoyed some really splendid runs this season, and has had the pleasure of hunting over some new country. Your committee wish to express their hearty thanks to the farmers of North Taranaki for the hospitality and forbearance shown the Hunt. • Your Hunt received an invita..:oi, from the Egii.ont-tt'anganui Hunt to a day's hunting at Hawera, and quite a number accepted, and were loud in their praise of the 'hospitality shown, aud, in return, invited the EgmontWanganui Hunt to visit North Taranaki, and quite a number expressed their intention of accepting, but, unI fortunately, owing to the war, only a , few members were able to attend, who. ! we think, quite enjoyed the run,, notI withstanding the fact that the weather | was not what it might have been. | tUhough there were numerous spills | during the season, fortunately very few I were attended with serious results, with ] t-li exception of .Messrs. Mason ami j Pepperell, who, unfortunately, sustained rather severe injuries, but we are pleased to report that they have now recovered.

Financially, your Hunt has bad a very good year, although showing a debit .balance. The expenses this year have, been heavy, and many will not be recurring, although perhaps it will be necessary to build new kennels. Your committee, in engaging the new huntsman, decided to pay £l3O per annum, an increaso of £3O per annual, besides which thero were several other expenses attached to the appointment, which will make an increase of fully £SO for this year; and when you comparo this with the expenses of other years we think you will agree that the position is fairly satisfactory. Unfortunately, there are a few—and we are pleased to say a Tory few—who have not paid their subscriptions, and wo trust thai even now they will do so before the next Beason.

The races this year were held on the old Waitara course, instead of New Plymouth, as the New. Plymouth course was not available owing'to alterations which Were being effecte ! there. The races v/ere a great sucee in even,- v:iv, and afforded a very en]o\j.ide day to all who a tended them, and, (hianchliy, also, ■the rcsulta Vrerc quite as satisfactory as in former years. There was one regrettable accident in tl:» last race, but no blame was attachable to anyone for its occurrence. .

We have to draw your attention to the passing of the Gaming x\cts Amendment Bill, Riving 'hunts tctalisator permit.-!. Your committee have beer, ailro to the fact,' and have complied with all conditions necessary, and tru.-.f to be able.to report shortly "that a permit nas been granted your Hunt. You will be asked to consid; v two notices of motion, to rescind old rules and adopt new ones, to elect officers for the coming season, and' pass the bal-ance-sheet, which we trust you will'do as expeditiously as possible."
