THE fASHBTJRTON SEAT. .'Ashburton, Last Night. Mr. W. S. Maslin, Opposition candidate for Ashbvu-ton, opened his election enmpaign here by addressing a fairly large audience in the Theatre. Eoyal tonkjlit. He spoke for close on two" hours
on approved part/ lines, dealing with W naval question, finance, (Civil' Service; anil the administration of Government, all the work of which he denounced. He stated that he was against the Bible in schools. He, received a sympathetic hearing, and a vote of thanks and confidence in him as the future representative, and in the Liberal party, was carried unanimously.
