HURFORD ROAD.

1 The annual meeting of shareholders of the Omata Dairy Company took place recently. ' The directors, in their report, regret that the inability to sell the Company's output of butter for the scaso», originally caused by the uncertainty as to the quantity of milk and cream to be expected, resulted in a lower price being realised for the output, and a slight loss on the year's working resulted. The statistics of work done at the factory and creamery and of the expense of conducting the business of the company showed percentage quite equal to previous good results, and whilst it is unwise to estimate the prospects for the coming season, in the present disturbed state of tho world, it was hoped that satifsactory results would be realised. The directors had been requested to join other companies in subsidising the Taranaki Education Board for the employment of a lecturer in connection with farm matters. The proposal was put before tho shareholders, and it was decided to pay for the past year on the basis of one shilling per ton output. It was decided to call a special meeting to consider the question of allowing new suppliers to start supplying the company without taking up shares or allowing them to supply with one or more shares if the;.-' wished. It was pointed out that the company was now in a different position than when it started, the factory being fully paid for and an opposition factory in the district. They could allow a new supplier to supply on easier terms to the advantage of'the company, as it was supply that was wanted. : It was proposed as a recommendation to the directory to call tenders for i horse feed. Election for the two retiring directors resulted: A. Looney 43; McKee, 23; F. Myers, 15; McCormack, 14; Smith 6. The first two were duly elected. Mr Buxton was appointed auditor. Mr P. Rail was elected chairman subsequently.
