A lieutenant in the French- dragoons, ■'who was wounded at the Meuse, recounts his experiences as follows:—"3Iy 'horse fell dead, and I was dragged . down. I fainted, but recovered and 1 called for help. A German came, and, ' seeing I was an officer, he called his com- 1 mander. The latter "took my revolver and fired at me, the 'bullet travelling to the wall of my stomach. I was rendered again .unconscious, but my orderly revived and rescued me." GENERAL PAU. General 'Pau, who has been placed in command in Alsace, is a veteran of tlu 1870 war, and lost his right hand in the battle of Froeschwiller. These are no longer important, as the French occupy j the fortified line beginning with the : Grand Couronne de Nancy. ZEPPELINS TOO SLOW. 'PICKED OFF BY FRENCH GUNS. LIGHTER FRENCH DIRIGIBLES A ■ SUCCESS., Received 25, 10.5 p.m. London, August 25. French reports state that Zeppelins ■proved unable to rise sufficiently to escape the French artillery. A French dirigible dynamited the railway station at Treve3, notwithstanding a fusillade of bullets.
