ITALY READY
To Strike Austria. Frontier Mobilising Received 25, 10.5 p.m. • London, August 24. Messages from Geneva report that an Italian army of 800,000 is concentrating on the Austrian frontier. The mobilisation of the army lias virtually Stripped the' frontier between Fiance and Switzerland of French garrisons. Italy's peace footing is 360,000 men. Her total war strength, however, is 3,220,000, of whom 1,020,000 are more or less trained. Italy has 'besides a Libyan Army of 15,000. She has a navy consisting of 12 battleships, 10 armorcil cruisers, and a considerable number of smaller craft, including torpedo-boats, destroyers and submarines. RELATIONS STRAINED. The Press Teports that the greatest strain exists between Vienna and Rome because the neutrality of Italy permitted the fleets of the Allies to chase and destroy Austrian warships in the Adriatic.
