THE MOA MERGER
ANOTHER SPECIAL ORDER. A special meeting of> the Taranaki Comity Council was held in the Comity IChanibers, New Plymouth, yesterday, to consider matters in connection witSi the proposed merger of a portion of like Moa road district into the county. There were present: Crs. J. Brown (chairman), J. R, Hill, J. Andrews, A. Morton, D. McAllnm, C. Billing, C. Andrews, M. Hopson and R. Stevens. The chairn.an stated that while it was a simple matter to m|crge a whole road district, it was very complicated to merge a portion, To set all doubts at rtsr, he fad obtained an opinion from Mr. T. F. Martin, solicitor to the Coun ties' Association, and the effect of this opinion, a nry lengthy one, was that a fresh, special order would have to be made, when the withdrawing petitions p.re sworn, and that the annexation vould not take effect until March 31, 1915. The annexation would clter the boundaries of ihe Moa and Mangorei riding 3, as the attaching of a portion of the road district appeared to alter the boundary of the liding/ Where the boundaries of a road district jreTe alter*!, tic Council would have to dissolve the Board and arrange for a new election, so the Road Board would have to have another election when the special order took effect On :h ii il : on of rhuirman and Cr.
