TARANAKI TROUNCED IN AUCKLAND. \ Auckland, last might Tiie Taranaki Rugby League, representative team played a challenge match on Saturday against the Auckland representatives. The match, which ■was witnessed by 4000 spectators, was won by Auckland by 35 points to 4, and the local team thus retains posses- ' sion of the New Zealand challenge cup. A feature of the match was the placekicking of Savoury, who converted six of tihe .seven tries scored and kicked a penalty goal. In the first spell scoring was fairly ev;en. ' Hooker kicked two goals for' Taranaki, and Bennett scored a try for Auckland, which Savoury converted. In the second spell Auckland monopolised the scoring, and tries were scored toy Savoury, Clarkje, Seager, Walters, Pricker, and Rogers. Savoury converted fiv<> of these, and kicked a penalty goal. Another noteworthy feature of the match was that all the six forwards 1 and the scrum fialf scored tries.
