A COMPENSATION CASE. By Telegrap.i—Press Association. - Wellington, August 4. In the case Catherine Lena Broad i. Rex, the Appeal Court was unanimously of opinion that the verdict of the jury should be upheld. Judgment was entered in the court below for supplicant for the amount found by the jury ( £2000) with costs according to scale.
EXPORT OP GOLD AND SILVER. Wellington, August 4. Since the beginning of tho present year, "204,340 ounces of gold have been exported from the Dominion, the value being £809,247, as compared with 210-, 385 ounces, valued at £820,G14 in the corresponding period of last year. The export of silver for the first seven mouths of this year has amounted to 40D,020 ounces, valued at £42,897, or 106,1)1!) ounces, valued at £20,801, less than in the same period last year.
